🚀 [Demo Day Recap] Meet the Future of AI x Web3 | DataHive: The Future of Data Belongs to You
Welcome back, Web3 Innovators,
Today, we’re excited to feature Ray Gill, Founder of DataHive—one of the groundbreaking projects from the OnePiece Labs x 0G AI + Web3 Incubator. DataHive is on a mission to reshape digital life by giving users true control over their data in the age of AI and the metaverse. With its AI Sidekick, self-sovereign identity tools, and decentralized data storage, DataHive is creating a private, intelligent layer between you and the internet. Let’s dig in.
DataHive: The Future of Data Belongs to You
Q: Ray, thanks for joining us! Tell us what DataHive is all about.
Ray: Thanks for having me! At its core, DataHive is a secure, user-owned data platform where people can finally take control of their digital lives. Everything you do online generates data—your shopping habits, travel, media, conversations—and for too long, that data has been exploited without consent. We’re flipping that power dynamic.
With DataHive, users have a digital vault that stores all their personal data. It’s encrypted, decentralized, and only accessible by them. From there, our AI Sidekick helps users manage consent, protect their privacy, and even earn from their data in the future. It’s your AI defender in an increasingly automated world.
Q: That’s a powerful mission. What inspired the creation of DataHive?
Ray: Honestly, it came from frustration. I’ve spent years in tech, and I started to see a growing gap—users were being tracked, profiled, manipulated, and had no real say. Data ownership felt like this missing layer of digital rights.
So in 2023, we founded DataHive with a very simple idea: if data is being created about you, then you should be the one who owns and controls it. From that principle, everything else followed—decentralized storage, the AI Sidekick, digital identity, and a new type of consent layer built on Web3 principles. We’re building for a future where data is a right, not a weapon.
Q: What makes DataHive different from traditional privacy tools or even Web3 data solutions?
Ray: It’s the combination of three things: privacy, intelligence, and user agency. Most privacy tools today are reactive—you install them to block ads or trackers. But with DataHive, you proactively manage your data, consent, and digital identity.
We’ve built an AI Sidekick that acts on your behalf, enforcing your rules across platforms. Whether it’s opting out of data sharing, tracking how your information is used, or managing your consent with dozens of companies, the Sidekick handles it.
At the same time, all your data is stored in what we call your DataHive (dH)—your personal encrypted vault that travels with you across Web2, Web3, and eventually the metaverse. And because it’s built on decentralized infrastructure, not even we can access it.
Q: Let’s talk user experience. What does getting started with DataHive look like?
Ray: It’s really simple. You sign up for the waitlist, download the app when we launch, and your AI Sidekick takes it from there. First, it maps out where your data is—what companies have it, how it’s being used, and what your exposure looks like.
Then, you set your preferences: what you want shared, with whom, and under what conditions. The AI enforces those choices in real time, across the platforms and companies you interact with.
As we roll out more features, users will be able to connect their DataHive to different apps, participate in a decentralized AdTech ecosystem, build alternative credit scores, and even personalize their experiences in the metaverse—all with full control and transparency.
Q: You mentioned credit scores and digital identity. Can you expand on those?
Ray: Absolutely. One of the big things we’re working on is self-sovereign identity (SSI)—a system where you own and manage your credentials instead of spreading your personal info across dozens of databases.
Alongside that, we’re introducing a DataHive Credit Score—a user-owned reputation system that can be used in Web2 and Web3 alike. Whether it’s renting a place in the metaverse or applying for services, you’ll have a portable score that doesn’t rely on centralized credit bureaus.
It’s all part of building a personal data economy, where individuals—not corporations—benefit from the value their data generates.
Q: That’s a massive vision. Where is DataHive today in terms of progress and traction?
Ray: We’re in our third release cycle and have made great strides. We’re rolling out our AI Sidekick + Digital Human, which brings automated privacy enforcement to life. Our decentralized AdTech and real-time bidding layer is under development, and we’re gearing up for broader public access later this year.
